L'Erasmus festeggia i suoi 25 anni
L'Erasmus, il programma di scambio
europeo per studenti e professori che
deve il nome all'omonimo filosofo
olandese, festeggia quest'anno i suoi
venticinque anni. Dalla sua creazione
negli anni Ottanta, circa 3 milioni di
studenti e professori hanno potuto
studiare e lavorare all'estero grazie a
questa borsa di studio.
L'Erasmus fa parte del programma di
apprendimento permanente dell'Unione
europea che ha come obiettivo lo
sviluppo di nuove competenze durante il
corso di tutta la vita.
La Commissione europea ha richiesto
altri fondi per finanziare i progetti
Erasmus nel periodo 2014-2020. Dal 2013
il programma di apprendimento permanente
prenderà il nome di "Erasmus per tutti".
All'interno del Parlamento europeo se ne
occuperà il deputato tedesco di centro
destra Doris Pack, membro della
commissione per la Cultura.
In occasione del 25esimo anniversario
saranno organizzate dalla Commissione,
il commissario per l'educazione
Androulla Vassiliou e alcuni
rappresentanti del progetto Ersamus -
uno studente e un professore da
ogni Stato membro- due conferenze sul
tema "Erasmus: cambiare vita, aprire le
menti da 25 anni". Questi rappresentanti
sono stati scelti sulla base di come l'Erasmus
ha cambiato le loro vite

This guide provides practical information on managing the risk of injury from
manual handling activities in the healthcare sector. The objective of providing
such information is to ensure that manual handling work activities are reviewed,
that hazards are identified, risks assessed and protective measures put in place
to eliminate or reduce the risk of injury. The guide focuses on the hospital and
ward environment but its principles can be applied to other work
environments in healthcare. Checklists of some of the key controls at generic or
task level that should be in place at department level are included.

laser processing devices
– safety measures (in German)
The range of applications for hand-held laser processing devices (HLDs) is
increasing rapidly. Today, hand-held laser processing devices are available
amongst others for welding, cutting, cladding, hardening and cleaning. The
devices are used in the automotive, engineering and tool making industry, and
recently also in shipbuilding. Also, hand-held laser systems are applied for art
restoration and conservation.
The safety of hand-held laser processing devices is a fundamental requirement.
However, a number of questions regarding both the safe design and the safe use
of
the devices are still open. The results which are summarised in this report are
meant to contribute to the improvement of safety of HLDs to be developed in
future.
A survey assessed protective design measures actually used in HLDs for
industrial laser material processing. Furthermore, the report is setting out to
define requirements for protective design measures. Based on these
considerations, inherently safe design measures of HLDs are presented. The
report includes proposals for testing methods to examine the functional safety
of HLDs for material processing as well as checklists for manufacturers and
users of such devices with regard to laser safety.

AT - Nanotrust - dossiers on OSH aspects of nanotechnology and nanotoxicology
The
NanoTrust
project of the Institute of Technology Assessment of the Austrian Academy of
Sciences is sponsored by the Federal Ministry for Transport, Technology and
Innovation. These pages set out information on possible health and environmental
risks and on societal aspects of nanotechnologies.
The dossiers are a brief summary. NanoTrust also organises
workshops.
The
calculation of exposure dose of nanoparticles is especially relevant for risk
assessment and setting exposure limit values for these substances and giving
recommendations on OASH prevention. A recent overview document sets out to
provide a short overview of the relationship of exposure, dose and dose-effect
and explains why this information is needed to assess the health effects of
nanoparticles, and where there are still gaps in knowledge. The document also
discusses the application of different concepts of toxicology (intrinsic effects,
morphological effects, (e.g. of fibrous carcinogenic materials), as for the area
of nanotoxicology surface reactivity may be one of the relevant effects.

overview
document presents
updated information on OSH aspects of the use of nanomaterials. It covers
measurement, exposures and provides links to guidance documents from the
Austrian labour inspection and from the social security organisations. The
labour inspection guide provides a procedure to be applied at workplaces and
links to guidance sheets for different tasks and work procedures that may
involve exposure to nanomaterials.

Aggiornate le mappe interattive sulla qualità delle acque
L'Agenzia europea dell'ambiente ha aggiornato le mappe interattive che visualizzano i dati sui corpi idrici e sulle falde acquifere di tutta Europa.
Le mappe includono le statistiche riepilogative a livello nazionale e a livello di bacino idrico.
I dati provengono dai piani di gestione trasmessi dagli Stati membri alla Commissione ai sensi della Direttiva europea quadro sulle acque. Attualmente, 22 Stati membri hanno fornito tali informazioni.
Le mappe hanno una nuova caratteristica: fornire informazioni su parametri quali lo stato della popolazione ittica e di altri fattori ecologici utilizzati per la classificazione dei singoli corpi idrici, insieme alle informazioni sui tipi di pressione che incidono sul corpo idrico. Gli utenti devono zoomare e cliccare sul corpo idrico di interesse per visualizzare questi parametri. Per i fiumi, le informazioni a livello di corpo idrico sono attualmente disponibili solo per 11 paesi (Austria, Belgio, Repubblica Ceca, Germania, Grecia, Finlandia, Francia, Paesi bassi, Slovacchia, Svezia, Regno Unito).
